CENTRE FOR NEW FOOD TECHNOLOGIES AND PROCESSES
The Centre of New Food Technologies and Processes (CENTA), a private foundation established in 2006, was born with the desire to contribute to the modernization and competitiveness of food industry through research, development and implementation of new technologies and food processing, technology transfer, training and incorporation of innovation to companies in all areas (technology, services, management, etc.). Its Board consists of three institutions IRTA, ACC1Ó and UdG, five business associations and a total of 14 food companies.
CENTA has equipments of size and production capacity greater than those offered by a pilot plant for the majority of new technologies that could be implemented in the short term (high hydrostatic pressure, radio frequencies, microwaves, dynamic drying, drying and processing of liquid foods, etc.). The main objective is make these tools available to companies, making them aware of the costs of using new technologies and allowing them to carry out market research with real products developed and validated by CENTA. Moreover, CENTA makes also available pilot equipment (electrical pulses, light pulses, autoclaves, ovens, robots) to study and validate processes and to develop new products.
