Aerospace Research and Technology Centre is a non-profit private foundation set up in March 2005 by Academia, Government and Industry in the region of Catalonia aiming to promote innovation and enhance industrial competitiveness.

CTAE's main activity is the research and development of aerospace technologies (navigation and communications, robotics and advanced automation, software and control for critical applications, Earth observation, vehicles, design and energy). CTAE offers R&D+i services to companies with the support of public administrations and the competences of universities and research centres, with mixed public-private funding. In all its areas of activity CTAE provides access to in-house or university resources: experienced researchers and laboratories; promoting university-industry collaboration, trans-regional and international cooperation, as well as technology transfer to and from other non-aerospace sectors. CTAE also provides infrastructure and services to university-industry projects, including fundraising, project management, quality, intellectual property and physical space to accommodate project teams.

CTAE has developed its activity in projects at both Catalan and national level (being part of multidisciplinary consortiums in more than 30 projects with companies during 2008) and international level, participating in European projects funded by INTERREG III Program or the 7th Framework Program. CTAE fosters as future strategic lines of development the technology transfer between aerospace industry and other sectors such as automotive, energy, health, security, etc.
