EPHOCELL

EPHOCELL (Smart light collecting system for the efficiency enhancement of solar cells) is a 7th Framework Programme funded project submitted to the FP7-ENERGY-NMP-2008-1 call. The project, started in February 2010 and ending in December 2012, is co-ordinated by LEITAT Technological Center (Spain). Partners from Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Ireland, Israel and Italy participate in the consortium.

The main objective of this project is the study of energy down shifting and up conversion processes with the aim to modify the wavelength of solar photons by means of a tunable molecular system based on organic compounds and metal complexes. The research and development activities of this project will focus on the synthesis of molecular mixes with wavelength tunablity to achieve efficient energy up and down conversions and their evaluation in terms of efficiency and chemical stability; and the development of a suitable polymer matrix containing the molecular system for fabrication of luminescent solar concentrator layers and prototype devices.
